Kisii Prison Project
During our most recent visit to Kisii Prison, we were privileged to meet with the warden and have an in-depth discussion about the ongoing support and projects Open Road Prophets has been involved in within the facility.
It was an opportunity to reflect on the work achieved so far, identify areas of need, and strengthen the partnership with the prison administration. We also had the chance to meet directly with the prisoners in both the men's and women's facilities.

Helping those in need
Engaging with the inmates allowed us to better understand their daily lives, challenges, and aspirations. We conducted sessions with both groups, focusing on encouragement, personal development, and the resources available to help improve their circumstances while serving their sentences.
These sessions were well received and provided a meaningful way for the prisoners to feel seen, supported, and valued. During the visit, we were given a tour of the prison to assess the current needs and observe the progress of various initiatives.
"Each time we come into the prison the connections deepen, between us and those living and working within the prison, and also with the inmates themselves."
One of the highlights was seeing the work and skills areas, where inmates are actively learning and practicing trades that can provide future income and vocational opportunities.
In the men's section, prisoners were making furniture to sell, developing skills in carpentry and craftsmanship. Meanwhile, the women were engaged in weaving bags and creating handicrafts, providing them with both creative expression and practical skills that could be applied upon release.

This visit reinforced the importance of supporting the prison in both practical and developmental ways. By providing resources, training, and encouragement,
The visit also strengthened relationships with the staff and administration, ensuring that our efforts are coordinated and sustainable. Witnessing the dedication of both the staff and prisoners reaffirmed our commitment to making a lasting, positive impact within Kisii Prison.
