Elizabeth's Story - A New Home
Elizabeth and her husband Daniel live in Oyugis, near Crystal Springs School, with their seven children. Their home was a small, two-room mud-walled structure with a tin roof and no foundations.
Every time it rained, water would seep through the floor, flooding the house and damaging the few possessions they had.
The family had no access to clean water or electricity, making everyday life a constant struggle.
Three of Elizabeth's children now attend Crystal Springs School, where they are receiving an education, but the family is unable to afford school fees, uniforms, or basic supplies. Elizabeth works in the school kitchen, helping prepare meals for the students, as a way to support her children's learning.

Helping those in need
Despite her efforts, her family's living conditions remained a pressing challenge. During a visit in the summer, Elizabeth welcomed the Open Road Prophets team into her home.
We consulted with Tobias Ogweno, the local community leader, to determine how best to help. Tobias recommended digging out and waterproofing the foundations, rendering the walls, and installing a raised step to prevent water from entering during the rainy season.
The project was completed successfully, transforming their home into a safe, dry, and secure space for the family.
Elizabeth and Daniel are overjoyed with the improvements, and their children now have a stable environment in which to grow and thrive.
This project exemplifies how practical support can make a lasting difference in the lives of families in need, giving them hope, dignity, and the opportunity to focus on the future.
"To be identify families in need like this and then have a partner who can implement the changes required and make a profound difference is an incredible blessing."
