Kisii Prison Baptism Pool
The Kisii Prison chaplain recently reached out to Open Road Prophets with an ongoing request from the Christian community within the prison: the need for a dedicated facility to carry out baptisms.
Until that point, inmates had no proper space in which to celebrate this important sacrament, leaving a significant gap in their spiritual life and community practice.
Recognising the importance of this request, the prison governor kindly allocated an area within the facility where a baptismal site could be built.

Helping those in need
However, the chaplaincy team did not have the resources to complete the project on their own.
Open Road Prophets stepped in to provide the necessary support, funding, and practical assistance to enable the construction of a proper, functional space for baptisms. The project was completed successfully, creating a meaningful and safe environment for inmates to practice their faith.
On the first Sunday that baptisms were held, 70 inmates participated, marking a historic and joyous occasion for the prison community.
The event not only allowed inmates to engage in a central Christian rite but also fostered a sense of hope, unity, and belonging within the prison walls.
This project demonstrates Open Road Prophets' commitment to addressing spiritual as well as practical needs. By working alongside the chaplaincy and prison staff, we are able to support initiatives that uplift lives, strengthen communities, and provide inmates with opportunities for personal growth and faith.
The baptism facility now stands as a lasting symbol of hope and renewal for the Kisii Prison community.
"It is wonderful for inmates who wish to express their faith to be able to be baptised. and we are delighted to have this facility."
