Boda Boda Repair Day
Our second Boda Boda repair day in Oyugis was another fantastic success, with an excellent turnout from the local riding community.
These days have quickly become a highlight for riders, not only because of the free bike servicing but also for the sense of connection, learning, and encouragement that comes with them.
We always begin the day with a practical workshop, teaching riders how to properly care for their bikes and spot early warning signs of mechanical problems. Simple maintenance awareness can mean the difference between safety and serious injury.
As part of this, we invite a volunteer to bring their motorbike forward for inspection. On this occasion, the bike that came up had no front brake lever, no oil in the engine, a chain grinding directly against the metal guard, bubbling tyres, and severely damaged steering. Incredibly, this rider regularly carried up to five passengers on his small 125cc bike — a vivid reminder of just how critical our work is.

Helping those in need
Throughout the day, our team serviced and repaired dozens of bikes, replacing parts with genuine manufacturer originals to ensure safety and longevity.
Each repair not only restores the machine but also provides the rider with renewed confidence and security on the road.
We also make sure to care for the riders themselves, offering shade, refreshments, and a meal while they wait.
The atmosphere is filled with laughter, learning, and a growing sense of community. As each rider leaves with a fully serviced bike, they also take with them knowledge and pride — empowered to stay safe, support their families, and continue serving their communities.
The Boda Boda repair days are a simple but powerful way to make lasting change, one bike at a time.
"Knowing the condition of the bikes, and they are pretty much universally unsafe, then seeing one go past with the rider and 5 small children, all without protective gear, just puts in to perspective how important this work is."
