Easter at Kisii Prison 

We had the privilege of being at Kisii Prison to take part in the Easter celebrations — a truly meaningful and uplifting experience. 

The day was filled with joy, reflection, and hope as we joined both the men's and women's prisons for their special Easter gatherings. 

Each service was vibrant with singing, prayer, and messages of faith, reminding everyone that even within the prison walls, there is light, forgiveness, and the promise of new beginnings. 

Helping those in need

Open Road Prophets was honoured to play a part in these celebrations. Alongside the chaplaincy and prison staff, we were able to share small gifts and provide a special Easter meal for all 1,600 prisoners — including chapattis, a much-loved Kenyan treat that always brings smiles. 

For many, it was a rare moment of celebration and comfort, and the sense of togetherness across the prison community was deeply moving. 

During our visit, we also had the opportunity to see the newly completed clean water facility within the women's prison. This project, which we were proud to help support, now allows for safer food preparation and improved hygiene standards.

It stands as a practical expression of care and dignity for the women and children living there. The Easter visit was a powerful reminder of why we do what we do — to bring hope, compassion, and tangible change where it's needed most. It was a day of gratitude, faith, and renewed purpose, both for the inmates and for all of us involved.
