Oyugis Community Day
Open Road Prophets has been working extensively in the Oyugis area, a sub-county of Homa Bay, as the heart of many of our projects.
Oyugis is home to Crystal Springs School, one of our most cherished partnerships, and it's also where our Boda Boda repair days take place, bringing together the local motorcycle community for safety training and maintenance support.
With so many of our initiatives rooted in this community, we wanted to do something that celebrated the people themselves — a day of joy, togetherness, and gratitude.

Helping those in need
With the generous support of the local church, MCC Oyugis, we organised a large community day filled with games, food, fellowship, and fun.
The response was overwhelming — over 300 children attended, along with at least as many adults, making it one of the largest gatherings we've attended in the region.
Families came together to laugh, play, and share meals, creating a beautiful atmosphere of unity and celebration.
As a special treat for the children, we arranged for a trampoline and a bouncy castle to be brought in by truck from Kisumu — a journey of nearly three hours. For many of the children, it was the first time they had ever experienced anything like it. Their laughter and excitement filled the air, reminding everyone present of the power of simple joy.
"It was a wonderful day of celebration, there was no agenda, no jobs to do, just a time of good company, good food, and a lot of laughter."
The day was more than just an event; it was a celebration of community spirit and a reflection of what Open Road Prophets stands for — building relationships, sharing love, and bringing hope in practical, meaningful ways.
As the sun set over Oyugis, the smiles and songs of the day lingered, marking a moment of true connection between families, the church, and our team. It was, without doubt, a wonderful day that will be remembered for years to come.
